Medieval, Georgian and garden tours for new season
Cardigan Castle tour guides are brushing up on their information ahead of the new spring season.
Last summer, the volunteer guides carried out more than 100 tours for thousands of visitors bringing the 900 years of castle history to life.
This season the guides now have three specialised tours – a medieval tour which takes in the medieval remains of the site plus its buried treasures; a Georgian tour which looks at the house and outbuildings plus a garden tour which charts the many varied and unusual plants in the garden as well as the standard entire site tour.
The three specialised tours were put together by castle historian Glen Johnson.
“Visitors to the site have different interests,” he said. “Some love the medieval period, while others are more interested in the Georgian architecture. The brilliant thing about Cardigan Castle is that we have 900 years of history to choose from.”
The tours are available in Welsh and English and the castle tour guides can even provide one in French! The three different tours are also available as bilingual illustrated sheets for visitors to have a self-guided tour.
Guided tour group bookings can be made for £5 a head by contacting the castle on 01239 615131 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer tour guide please contact the castle. Training is provided.
