Castle celebrates first full year

Volunteers, trustees and staff celebrate

Cardigan Castle has had its first full year of being open – and volunteers, trustees and staff got together in the castle’s 1176 restaurant to celebrate.

During the last 12 months the castle has welcomed over 30,000 visitors, held a successful series of outdoor shows with Theatr Mwldan, hosted many community events, entertained several school parties and run scores of guided tours.

It has also catered for hundreds of visitors in its self catering holiday accommodation and bed and breakfast rooms.

Cadwgan chair Non Davies thanked everyone for their hard work and commitment to the project.

“Eight hundred and forty years ago this Christmas Lord Rhys welcomed everyone to his castle to celebrate,” she said.

“That’s what we are doing now, opening the castle to everyone and welcoming people.”

And she added: “Let us take the passion and pride that we have in Cardigan Castle and share it with the wider community.”

If you are interested in volunteering at the castle email [email protected] or call in to speak to staff at the castle reception.
