Holiday Concert at Cardigan Castle.

Cardigan Castle is alive to the sound of harp music this summer.

The castle is playing host to over 50 members of the American Youth Harp Ensemble who will be part of the Claire Jones International Harp School next month.

From August 8 to 13 the castle site will be home to scores of harpists looking to improve their skills under the tutelage of former royal harpist and local Crymych girl Claire Jones.

The American youngsters will also be taking trips around the area including performing in St David’s Cathedral.

On Thursday August 10 some of the harpists will be performing a lunchtime chamber concert in the castle pavilion at 12.30pm. Tickets are just £5 and on sale now from the castle reception.

On Saturday, August 12, Claire will be taking to the castle’s main stage for a Night With The Stars featuring a stellar line up of Welsh soloists including Rhidian, Trystan Llyr Griffiths and Gwawr Edwards. She will be joined by the American Youth Harp Ensemble and Choir plus her own students from the Claire Jones International Harp School.
And harp fans can also look forward to Classics in the Castle on Sunday, August 13, featuring the American Youth Harp Ensemble, Choir and Chamber Group. The concert starts at 3pm (doors at 2pm) and there will be chance to have afternoon tea in the interval.
