Prince Charles delight at first round pass success

The castle’s royal supporter, Prince Charles, has welcomed the HLF first round pass stage success
The project to conserve and regenerate Cardigan Castle was adopted for support in 2005 by The Princes Regeneration Trust.
It organised a Planning Day in Cardigan attended by about 40 representatives of the community, local businesses, heritage organisations and public bodies at which options for the re-use of the site were discussed. A broad strategy was agreed that became the basis of the successful Lottery bid.
Trust Chief Executive Ros Kerslake said,
“We have provided technical support and advice to the Cadwgan Trust and know how hard everyone worked to achieve this great Lottery result. HRH The Prince of Wales has taken a great interest in the Castle project from the beginning and is delighted by this news. The project will have an enormous impact on Cardigan and, we hope, create a major new visitor destination. We will continue to help the Cadwgan Trust to get through Stage 2 of the Lottery process and deliver a successful project to regenerate one of the most important historic sites in Wales.”
