First tenants will be Welsh classes

THE first tenants in the Cadwgan Trust’s newly refurbished buildings by the gates of Cardigan Castle will be Welsh classes for adults starting this month.

Some of the students and tutors had a tour of the newly refurbished T Castell and the Green Street cottages – and to meet the medieval mystery man in his suit of armour who’ll be an honorary member of each class!

Some of the students and tutors of the Welsh courses being introduced to their medieval classmate at the Castle by Jann Tucker, chair of the Cadwgan Trust.

Both the Cadwgan Trust, which manages the Castle, and the class tutors are delighted with this development.

Dic Thomas and Jann Tucker, two of the Trustees, said that they are looking forward to other community groups coming to use the buildings too.

Welsh tutor Philippa Gibson said: “What better surroundings could you have when you’re learning Welsh than to be on the site of the first ever Eisteddfod?”

Welsh classes for all levels, from complete beginners to those who are fluent and wanting to polish their speaking or writing skills, will be available in the Castle buildings in the day and in the evening, but there will also be other classes in other locations in the town and in the whole Tivy-Side area.

For full details of all courses available, and for advice on how to choose the most suitable course, pick up the leaflet ‘Learn Welsh With Us’ from the library or from shops or freephone 0800 876 6975. All classes begin in the next two weeks.
