Exhibition Week

For all those curious about plans to restore Cardigan Castle, there is exciting news. From 14-21 August (except Sunday 15) it’s Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust’s Exhibition Week. This offers an interesting opportunity for all members of the public to view the proposed plans for the site. The exhibition will be held each day from 11am until 3pm at Green Street Cottages and gateway to the castle.

Exhibition Week also presents a great chance for all those wishing to join Cadwgan’s growing group of volunteers. Skills of all types are required, with an opportunity to sign up when you visit the exhibition. For example, employees of Cardigan based company Scribo Advertising & Design volunteered their resource to write, design and produce the poster shown below. Local student photographer Cerian Jones kindly took the photograph that appears in the poster.

A concert, performed by volunteers, will mark the end of exhibition week on Saturday 21 August at 4pm. This features Nest Jenkins who will sing, play the harp and recite. 10-year-old Nest won first prize at both this year’s National Urdd Eisteddfod and The National Eisteddfod. Further entertainment includes singer Laura Blundall and opera singer Andrew Gilbert.

So this is a week not to be missed. Tickets for the end of week concert are now available from Cadwgan’s Office at 1 Green Street, 01239 615131. All proceeds go to the Castle Restoration Fund.
