Castle recruitment starts

The jobs economy of rural West Wales has been given a boost this week with the advertisement of five top posts at Cardigan Castle.

The jobs are the first phase of recruitment for the £11m restoration project which will employ a total of 19 people once work is completed in autumn 2014.

The posts include the all-important project director post, a part time finance officer, a head gardener, education and outreach officer plus a volunteer co-ordinator.

An administration officer has already been appointed by the trust.

The jobs are funded by European and Heritage Lottery cash and will be based at the castle site in Cardigan.

The restoration project is being managed by Cadwgan Trust in partnership with Ceredigion County Council.

Cadwgan chair Jann Tucker said: “These jobs are vital for the castle project. But what is especially exciting is that these are good jobs in an area where employment is scarce. We look forward to receiving applications from potential candidates.”
