Cardigan castle appeal to all Ceredigion councils
An appeal to support Cardigan Castle has been sent to every community council in Ceredigion.
Cadwgan Trust – who have successfully got their £4.8m Heritage Lottery bid past the first round stage – need to raise £50,000 this year as part of the matchfunding.
In a letter sent to every town and community council in the county, Cadwgan is calling on councillors to support the project over the next four years.
Aberporth Community Council set the ball rolling this week when it pledged £250 a year for the next four years.
Cadwgan chairman Jann Tucker said: “The castle is so much more than a Cardigan or Ceredigion based project – it is of national importance.”
The first round stage has released nearly £300k to Cadwgan which will be used to firm up the bid ready for re-submission after Christmas and employ a project officer and administration assistant.
The castle project is one of the largest to come out of Wales and the only Welsh bid being considered by the HLF in its current round.
